John
John, a lifelong guitarist, cross country skier, and sailor has been classical and jazz guitar instructor at the Interlochen Arts Academy for 15 years, founded the Interlochen Guitar Festival Workshop and purchased SBM in 2009. He now gets the pleasure being lead dog for the best staff in the string, music, and guitar supply business. He finds the new hat of the proprietor of SBM to be a perfect fit.
Laura
Laura, known as the SBM Smoothie Goddess, is an avid exercising and perpetually styling cat mom, and co owner of SBM with John. In the offices at SBM she leads quality control and serves as the back up shipper. She’s also in charge of humanity resources, keeping us all human. She’s our queen of jocularity and the anchor of our even keel.
Ben
Ben, a rocking guitarist, song writer, singer and guitar instructor, is a totally devoted family man and the Operations Director at SBM. He keeps the website in tune, heads up IT, is purchasing agent for strings and accessories and never stops having better ideas.www.benricheymusic.com
Steve
Steve is a fisherman and classic rock aficionado with a compendium of history about every alternate take and band member in the history of almost every rock band that ever was crammed in his brain. He has more information in his head than a memory bank at NASA. At SBM he is our shipping guru and keeps receiving on a roll.
Holly
Holly is a mom, a belly dancing weaver, and an Alpaca rancher. At SBM she is our Media Goddess and our bookkeeper, and an awesome team member with an Eagle eye for quality control. She offers no mercy to the erroneous!
Matt
Matt’s skill and experience as a professional classical and rock guitarist are a perfect fit with his role as our lead customer service representative. Jim is a true aficionado of most music styles and our mystical master of the magical numbers. Other companies might call him the accountant, but that just doesn’t cover what he makes happen at SBM. It helps that he knows a few chords too!

Lawrence is an eclectic stringed instrument aficionado & player whose fascination with all things internet & computer, along with a passion for writing, make him the perfect maven of our social media and blog division. That’s in addition to being a happening key member of our crack fulfillment team and our # 2 shipper. When he’s not making the scene at SBM he’s often hanging with his ever expanding collection of vintage instruments and 2 cool dogs, a beagle and a Boston terrier.

Rick is a family man & former pro snow boarder who gets in as much riding in the winter & beach biking in the summer as he can. He’s a perfect fit at SBM where he uses his “Inventory Guru” alter ego to whip our 8400 + product skus into line and help receive the tons-o-stuff that pass through our doors. He also helps rock packages out the door on our world class fulfillment team.
