The Guitar Festival and Workshop features classical ensembles, jazz ensembles, blues bands and rock bands. The Guitar Festival and Workshop offers unique and popular offerings for master classes, “wellness and joy in music,” exploring topics such as performance anxiety and Tai Chi for guitarists. Other courses will cover topics such as online resources for guitarists and recording. A vendor fair will allow guitarists to see the latest products for guitars. Participants will also have many opportunities to perform and jam with other guitarists.

Guitars International in cooperation with the Cleveland Institute of Music will present the thirteenth annual Classical Guitar Weekend: Thursday, May 23 through Saturday, May 25, 2013.
Join internationally acclaimed classical guitarists Jason Vieaux (USA - CIM Guitar Department Head), Colin Davin (USA), Jiyeon Kim (Republic of Korea), Jonathan Leathwood (England), Petra Poláčková (Czech Republic); composers Stephen Goss (England), Riho Esko Maimets (Canada), and Erin Rogers (Canada); classical guitarist and lecturer Brad DeRoche (USA); classical guitarist and Distance Learning guest instructor Jesper Sivebak (Denmark); and master guitar maker German Vazquez Rubio (USA) in a concentrated series of recitals, debut performances, world premieres, master classes, lectures, and exhibits celebrating the classical guitar and art music, solo and ensemble, old and new. All events will take place at the Cleveland Institute of Music in Cleveland, Ohio USA.

The workshop will focus on performing, arranging, and composing for acoustic fingerstyle guitar. Alex will share his insight into the techniques and inspiration that have become an integral part of his unique style.
Dynamics, articulation, phrasing, tone, polyrhythms, right/left hand technique, cross-string technique, extended techniques, and alternate tunings will be covered in a very hands-on approach.
This is an interactive workshop designed to improve your playing and ability to arrange music for guitar, whether you are an instrumentalist or a singer who uses the guitar as accompaniment.
