Shearer's Scale Pattern Studies is the C.A.G.E.D. system in Notation. this book is mandatory for my collection!
This was C.A.G.E.D. before there was a C.A.G.E.D. scale system; I believe this was written before the Segovia Scales system. This is the second copy I have bought (burned up my last one). What I like about Aaron Shearers scale system is: all musical notation, no fret board diagrams; how the melodic/harmonic minor modes relate to the major scales in music notation; Shearers five scale "Forms" as he called them in the 1940's are the same thing as C.A.G.E.D.; The fret board began to open up to me more when I associated the written note/scale "Forms" system with the fret board positions. Studies in all keys/positions that are practical for the guitar. As far as STB; the book was reasonable priced, arrived in a timely manner and as a bonus; it came in a zip lock cover.....very professional; I really appreciated that.
