I really wanted to select a set that would be as close as I could get to the sound and feel of the set Jimi was using back then. I chose Pyramid strings because they had a round core, giving them a warmer and fuller sound, and since hex core were just coming onto the market during Jimi&#8217;s career, it is most likely he used round core strings. Also, the Pyramid strings have a higher content of nickel, which also helped to keep these thin gauges sounding warm, and full. These strings are some of the best strings being made today.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">WOW!! What a set. This was one of those sets that I had to have everybody try. The feel of these strings is very different and unique, yet extremely comfortable.<\/p>\n<dl class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" id=\"attachment_2772\" style=\"width: 370px;\">\n<dt class=\"wp-caption-dt\"><\/dt>\n<dd class=\"wp-caption-dd\"><\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.stringsbymail.com\/pyramid-pure-nickel-jimi-hendrix-inspired-custom-set-10-38-full-set-15204.html\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2785\" alt=\"Jimi-Hendrix-Inspired_LRG\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stringsbymail.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Jimi-Hendrix-Inspired_LRG.jpg\" width=\"396\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.stringsbymail.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Jimi-Hendrix-Inspired_LRG.jpg 396w, https:\/\/www.stringsbymail.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Jimi-Hendrix-Inspired_LRG-297x300.jpg 297w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 396px) 100vw, 396px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>The gauges are:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>.010, .013, .015, .026w, .032, .038<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">They have\u00a0 very low tension basses (wound strings), which are very expressive, and also seemed to even out the sound between the wound strings and the plain steel strings. Knowing that Jimi loved to us this thumb to fret the bass notes, I can see why he used such low tension wound strings. Also, the 3rd string is a very low tension which makes bends effortless. By beefing up the first string, it really brought the high melody notes. One of the coolest sets I have ever played.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Caution: You will most likely have to have your guitar set up after installing these strings.
