Jose Ramirez MT w/ Carbon 3rd Coated Classical Guitar JRCM, Full Set

I spent a lot of $$$ trying many different strings on my Ramirez guitar. Finally, I tried the Ramirez medium tension string with carbon G. Perfect! The sound is balanced and sweet. Ramirez strings on a Ramirez guitar ... what a concept!

For the last 7 years I have used only Ramirez strings in my six guitars. The Hard Tension in my two double tops and two lattice braced guitars and the Medium Tension in my two Spanish guitars all with the carbon g string. I like the way the Ramirez strings set in, have even balance from treble to bass, excellent sustain and a reasonably long life. Over the years I've experimented with a dozen different variety of strings but always come back to the Ramirez.

I have used numerous string brands on my twenty year old Ramirez guitar. Up until my purchase of these strings I had currently used D'Addario strings. D'Addario are good strings but never seemed to sound as good on my Ramirez guitar as they sounded on my other guitars. I decided to try the Ramirez strings on a whim. The Ramirez strings seem to be perfectly matched for my guitar. The balance between strings is superb and the sound is robust. If you have not tried these strings, they certainly are worth a try.

I have had the medium tension strings on a 1979 Ramirez 1a for a couple of weeks and they sound very good. I'm coming back to the guitar after nearly 20 years and am experimenting with various strings. The thing I like best about these strings is the clear, clean treble note they produce above about the 9th fret. Not at all pingy and the third string does not sound tubby.

The basses are strong and solid, but the difference is in the trebles.

I play at what might be considered a mid level, purely for my own satisfactions and that of friends. I play a mix of folk and classical/romantic pieces. Thought to try the Ramirez strings because I have a 1987 Jose Ramirez III 2e estudio cedar-top model, bought new by me and kept properly tuned. I realize it is not the same as one made entirely in their shop, but quite a nice instrument anyway.

The instrument is very picky about strings. I tried the hard tension because I've always used hard tension on this guitar. Here is what I found:

1) They settled in rather quickly -- maybe 3 hours of playing and quite stable, and not too bad during even before.

2) Nice clearly defined trebles, strikingly so at first until I adjusted my playing to them.

3) I cannot say whether the "carbon" 'G" makes a great difference, but it sounds good.

4) Satisfying clear and mellow tones from the wound strings.

5) Somehow in a way that I cannot define, the tone from these strings seems to accentuate the "cedar sound" of this guitar.
