I would call these the industry standard. Quality control is excellent, almost no duds out of hundreds of packs that I have used (unlike more expensive European sets that I have tried). The tone is very clear and balanced, intonation is always excellent. The basses are quite bright, and may be too "squeaky" on some spruce top guitars. Try these on your guitar first for a neutral sound, and then compare other sets. I recommend these strings to all of my students, and always have them on the Yamaha guitar that I use for teaching. That being said, they are not powerful enough for my Paulino Bernabe Imperial guitar. I use them for down times between recitals, when I don't want to spend big bucks on strings, or for ensemble playing when ease of performance may outweigh some tonal considerations (they play very easily and well). The Bernabe is a special guitar, and it responds better to Hannabach Silver Specials. Most guitars will respond well to the D'Addario strings, and the price is reasonable.
