- By: kenneth harrisBest, longest lasting strings I have used in 30 years! I used to change my strings every month depending on how many gigs I had, sometimes more. These last me a year. When I replace them simply for preventive maintenance, I can't tell the tone of the new strings from the ones I took off. But I change them every year on all my basses. These are saving me tons of hard earned $.
