  • Hannabach Goldin 725 MHT Classical Guitar Strings, Full Set

Hannabach Goldin 725 MHT Classical Guitar Strings, Full Set

    By: Jack Daws
I've tried these on two different guitars and they are currently my favourite treble string (to me, most basses are basically the same - these are quite good). I prefer these to Savarez Alliance, whose carbon strings are highly acclaimed where I'm from.
They are very bright, yet still sweet and 'warm'. Other carbon trebles are bright but a bit 'tubby' or dead in the softer/warmer registers.

Oh, and the trebles last a very long time compared to most others so the price is worth it.

Aquila Perla Normal Tension Classical Guitar Strings 37C, Full Set

Trable strings are superior to all I ever used, but bass strings I would not recommend. This remark is by my opinion valid for all Aquila classical guitar strings sets. Unfortunately the manufacturer is not offering only trebles sets, but for playing it is worth to combine Aquila trebles with basses of other companies.
  • Optima Maxiflex 24K Gold Wound Electric Guitar Strings 9-42

Optima Maxiflex 24K Gold Wound Electric Guitar Strings 9-42

    By: Imer Juarez
Best Strings for my guitar to date. Tried them all and ended up at Optima Gold String. Tried different gauges for 10 to 8. Maxiflex addresses the issue I had that they were hard to bend except the 8's. So these feel in between 8 and 9 but sound the same as the 9's.This lets me dig in the notes harder and still last longer than any other strings I've tried. Optima Gold has a shimmery top-end no other strings seem to deliver.

Hannabach Flamenco 827MT Nylon Guitar Strings, Full Set

Extremely disappointed in these strings. At the most, I only got 5 to possibly 6 hours of total playing and before I knew it "the "A" string came unraveled at the bridge. All the other strings still appear to be in good condition. The sound quality is pretty good, but very disappointed in that I have paid $18.59 and already in an extremely short time I have an issue with a string that is barely broken in.

Aquila Alabastro Light Tension Classical Guitar Strings 97C, Full Set

Stefano Grondona told me that he used these Alabastro strings on his Torres. They give really nice tension balance and old world voice to my Dake Traphagen Torres model, too.

Well, these are probably the best strings i've ever played. Mainly because of silkness and longetivity, but the sound is incredible too. And they sound like new for about 2 months. The coating is not very strong, though. It comes off pretty quickly in the place, where you strum. But on less used parts of strings it can stay for years.
  • Savarez 500CJ New Cristal/Corum HT Classical Guitar Strings, Full Set

Savarez 500CJ New Cristal/Corum HT Classical Guitar Strings, Full Set

These are excellent strings! I've tried 4 or 5 other brands and have even tried mixing the basses and trebles, but these just seem to out perform all the others. Don't let the "high tension" fool you, they play very easily, especially the basses. The string volumes and tones are matched perfectly, which is exactly where I ran into a problem with mixing other strings. They lasted for almost 4 months on my guitar which I play for an hour or two 3 nights a week. I strongly recommend giving these a try!

Hannabach EXCLUSIVE Silver HT Classical Guitar Strings, Full Set

My curiosity got the best of me and am I ever thankful that I purchased the Hannabach EXCLUSIVE Silver Hign Tension strings. The touch of the strings and the sound is considerably better than my expectations. My guitar was already playing very good with another brand of strings ($17) but I thought I'd adventure out and try this set and see if they were seriously any better...so glad I did! Once the new strings are on you will immediately feel the beauty of these strings and once they are in tune you'll hear such a rich, balanced tone and volume. I am forever spoiled by these strings and so glad that my curiousity got the best of me!

  • Pyramid Stainless Steel Electric Guitar Strings Medium 10-46

Pyramid Stainless Steel Electric Guitar Strings Medium 10-46

    By: Brian Cullen
These strings are wonderful in quality, I cannot believe the price. The basses have an un-polished steel look and vintage texture that is smooth and contains lots of note articulation. I can really dig in or alter my pick attack to create different expressions. The note fundamental also very pleasant. If it were a wine it would be a hi quality Shiraz that is very affordable like "Pepper Jack".
The trebles have a flexible quality like the Austrian Strings Ive tried from Tomastik but the Pyramid have a clearer fundamental note and a longer lasting E 1st string.
The set is very interesting as the basses remind me of D'Addario Steels in feel but sound more balanced to me and the trebles feel like Tomastik but are a little more tense (just what I was looking for as I like the Tomastik too but they are on the extreme side of flexible)
I really am enjoying these strings and they will become my new standard set for my Tele and PRS.
  • Philip's Learn ALL the Notes of the Guitar Flash Cards

Philip's Learn ALL the Notes of the Guitar Flash Cards

    By: Fradley Garner
There are other guitar flash cards on the online market, but Philip's are the only ones I've held in my hands. There is no need for me to try others. Philip's work immediately, and it's the kind of self-test I enjoy. Sure they'll do the same for you!
  • Philip's Learn ALL the Notes of the Guitar Flash Cards

Philip's Learn ALL the Notes of the Guitar Flash Cards

    By: Jerry Lamberth
I am one of the guitar teachers who is happy to recommend these flash cards.

It's true that if you only ever want to strum some songs around the campfire (and there's nothing wrong with that), it's not necessary to learn the positions of notes higher up the neck.

But anyone with ambitions as a classical or fingerstyle instrumental guitarist will find that learning where these notes are will help their playing enormously. Philip's flash cards are the best and simplest resource I've seen for this. I thoroughly recommend them.
  • Strings By Mail Crystal Glass Nail File, 3.5 inches

Strings By Mail Crystal Glass Nail File, 3.5 inches

    By: Belinda Bennett
Best glass nile file ever. I tried a few from other companies (who SPECIALISE in nail care) but they lost their filing ability within a week. I don't think I am overly aggressive in filing my nails. Like most flamenco guitarists, I maintain a happy length of nail on my right hand so gently file my nails to the appropriate length every day or two to keep them at their best length for playing.

I was a bit nervous to try another glass nail file after so many disappointments but Strings By Mail's assurance that this file would outlast breakage and misplacement was enough for me to metaphorically hold my nose and take the plunge...and for US $8...I might as well throw it in my order.

Two months later, the file still looks brand new. It leaves an amazingly smooth edge - it totally runs rings around my poor old metal file. I take it everywhere. So in my next order, I added another 2...one to leave at work and one for the guitar case.
  • Snark S1 Son of Snark MINI Clip-On Guitar and Bass Tuner

Snark S1 Son of Snark MINI Clip-On Guitar and Bass Tuner

    By: Belinda Bennett
It is true....great things come in small packages. This little tuner belies its size and works better than some larger tuners I have tried. There are no bells and whistles - Son of Snark is a chromatic tuner and will show you the note you play, and it does so with great accuracy, and is like the Tyrion of tuners - small in stature but very sharp. I pulled it out of its package when it first arrived thinking "it's a lot smaller than I thought it would be" but I am not disappointed. Actually thinking I might get a second one to keep in my ukulele case!

  • D'Addario EJ45FF Pro Arte Carbon NT Classical Guitar Strings, Full Set

D'Addario EJ45FF Pro Arte Carbon NT Classical Guitar Strings, Full Set

    By: Darren O'Neill
D'Addario is a latecomer to the carbon treble party. In my opinion, it was well worth the wait. Although these trebles have the same feel and density as their competitors, they are much warmer and do not suffer the same, intonation problems; octaves at the 10th fret and beyond sound perfectly in tune. As for the Dynacore basses: I'm a die-hard fan of the traditional, Pro Arte basses. It would be nice if D'Addario eventually sold these trebles individually and/or in a trio without being attached to a specific set (much like the Titanium trebles). Take note that the EJ45FF has a total set tension of 94.55 lbs; Savarez 500AR has a total set tension of 90.23 lbs. Consequently, I would consider the D'Addario set to be rather stiff, by comparison. A comparison of the high tension sets between the competitors (D'Addartio EJ46FF vs. Savarez 500AJ) is 102.63 lbs and 97.08l bs, respectively. To sweeten the deal, D'Addario being a domestic brand, the prices for the sets are lower also.
