Upon arriving in America, Nicola Sfarzo was stopped by a customs agent, who asked him what he had in his cases. He said he had a mandolin and guitar. The agent asked him to play a few songs, which he did, solidifying his entry to the U.S.A.

Life wasn’t so kind to him after that, as he lost his eyesight in an accident at his family’s bakery. That’s when he turned back to music, earning a living as a musician. Now his legacy lives on through Nicola Strings Nicola Strings, run by his son Ron, a multi-instrumentalist himself.

Nicola banjo strings are handcrafted and hand-wound of 100 percent American-made wire and premium grade rounded hex-core steel. Like all the company’s strings, they are proudly made in the USA by musicians for musicians.
