Guitar supports help you avoid back pain when playing by allowing you to sit with a proper posture and both feet on the floor. Some players use a guitar support in place of the traditional foot stool.

The idea behind guitar supports and foot stools is the same: raise the angle of your guitar's neck into the position that's ideal for traditional classical guitar technique.

Some players like foot stools, but many find they lead to low back tension because using them twists the large vertebra at the base of the spine called the sacrum.

Guitar supports first appeared in the 1980s. They range from the Gitano Guitar Support, which is small enough to fit in your case, to the Dynarette Support Cushion, a pillow-like device that provides a very different sense of connection to your guitar.

Most supports come in multiple variations, and some are available in left-handed and children's models.
