Laud Strings

Played by the popular Buena Vista Social Club the laud is a tenor-pitched member of the Spanish cittern family. It is also found in Spanish-influenced countries such as Cuba and the Philippines. Some modifications have been made over the years, such as the Philippines version having 14 strings rather than 12. The Buena Vista Social Club featured a Cuban laud, played by Barbarito Torres. It’s also related to the smaller bandurria.
