Tenor Guitar Strings

The tenor guitar — the four-string relative of the acoustic six-string — first appeared on the scene in the late 1920s, though its origins are unclear.

Early jazz and Hawaiian artists used it before it fell out of favor as the six-string took prominence, though jazz guitarist Tiny Grimes (Art Tatum, Charlie Parker) was an advocate through the 1970s. The tenor guitar began to receive more attention at the turn of the millennium, with the likes of Neko Case, Ani DiFranco and Elvis Costello using it. We offer similarly adventurous players two options for tenor guitar strings.
