Born and raised in Canada, Jaques Hetu was a composer and music teacher. He dedicated his time to educating, but did not shy away from entering festivals and even walking away with first place prizes in those across his home stomping grounds, and was later nominated for the 1989 Juno Award as the Best Classical Composition. Prior to his death in 2010, Hetu was working as the director of music at the University of Quebec in Montreal.
