Sheet Music for Mandolin, Alto and Cello Ensembles

Algerian composer Marc Eychenne was initially a lauded performer, winning the Grand Prix awarded by the city of Algiers for his performance on the violin in 1954. He then began performing recitals with piano accompaniment and concertos with orchestras, in both Algeria and France, and obtained his card as soloist to play chamber music in the French Broadcasting Service in 1963.

Eychenne had actually begun writing at the tender age of 12, and gradually his interest and prowess in composition overtook his interest in performing. He eventually wrote everything from chamber music and orchestral music to vocal music, even music for children.

This piece demonstrates his flair for various instruments and styles. Though heavily influenced by French stalwarts like Franck, Fauré, Ravel, Debussy, Eychenne’s music “nonetheless expresses a personal and original sensitivity,” according to the publishing house Les Productions d’OZ.
