Classical Guitar Strings

Classical guitar strings are primarily used for classical and flamenco repertoire and are made of materials such as nylon, fluorocarbon, and other synthetics. Their bass strings may have a threaded or solid core which is covered with windings of various metals and nylon. There are still some classical guitar strings on the market made of traditional gut and silk materials as well, such as the Pyramid Gut and Gut/Nylon. The sound of classical guitar strings varies extensively, depending upon the materials used and the manufacturing techniques involved. In general nylon based strings offer a warmer sonic color and more sustain, an example being the Augustine Regal Series, while the fluorocarbon based strings generally provide a brighter sonic color and offer a more powerfully projecting sound with less sustain like the Savarez 540 HT Classic Series. Titanium based strings like Galli Titanio, another variety of classical guitar strings, are a variation of the nylon strings with a more powerful high end and less mid range.
