Augustine Classical Guitar Strings

Augustine created the first nylon guitar strings in 1947, and Andres Segovia favored them. Today, they’re popular with everyone from beginners to professionals.

Augustine offers three series of classical guitar strings: Classic, Imperial, and Regal. There are two different types of treble strings. The Classic trebles are made with a traditional nylon formula improved by use of modern production techniques, while the Imperial and Regal trebles use a more modern nylon formula. Classic trebles are a medium tension string. Imperial trebles are also medium tension, and Regal trebles are high tension.

The Classic trebles have warm, darker tones with a slight opacity in appearance. The Imperial and Regal trebles have brighter tone with more volume and are crystal clear strings.

Each series is divided into four colors, which designate the tension and material of the bass strings. Blue is high tension, red and gold are both medium tension, and black light tension. The blue, red, and black sets have silver-plated copper wound basses, while the gold set has gold-plated copper wound basses.

Augustine’s Regal Blue strings are one of the two best-selling sets of classical guitar strings at Strings By Mail. The high tension, clear nylon trebles offer a tone that’s relatively warm yet very clear, while the high tension, silver-plated copper wound basses feature great sound along with nice punch, clarity, depth, and power. The basses, known as Blue Basses, are extremely popular with players who just need a bass set to combine with trebles from other manufacturers.
