The guitarviol is a cross between a guitar and a violin that often uses cello strings.

The guitarviol produces the sounds of a strummed or plucked guitar and those of a bowed violin, according to Jonathan Wilson of TogaMan GuitarViols . Here's a tuning chart by Wilson for guitarviol strings:
