Temperamental strings.

The third string of this set is a wound string like lower three strings. I had these installed on a brand new telecaster. The second day after receiving the instrument this string sounded very wonky. Similar to what a resonator guitar wound sound like. I thought humidity was the culprit and caused the guitar neck adjustments to change. I turned down the string to adjust the string height a bit. When I retuned the string it snapped. I think perhaps the core is too fine. I dunno perhaps this was just a bad string. I’m going to check with Matt and see about getting an equivalent solid string as a replacement.

My guitar requires a different gauge for the G string. Strings by Mail always provides the single strings that I need.

D'Addario Flatwound Electric Guitar ECG24 Chromes

These flat wound strings sounded great through the right amp and through my headphones. However, I don’t like the acoustic sound so much, but they aren’t advertised for that. I also didn’t like the feel as much as D’Adarrio’s nickel round wounds (which is a personal thing having to do with my choice of pic and technique). So I switched to Pure Nickel EPN21’s for now.
