Vihuela Strings

The vihuela, which first appeared in the 15th century and enjoyed its greatest popularity in the 16th, is shaped much like a modern guitar. The instrument is fiendishly difficult to tune because its 10 frets are tied on the neck.

The vihuela is not to be confused with the vihuela Mexicana, which is used in mariachi music.
