Domenico Scarlatti (1685-1757) composed before the development of the modern guitar, so he wrote no original pieces for it. However, guitarists are in luck because dozens of his famous sonatas — most originally composed for keyboard instruments — have been transcribed for guitar.

A fun fact about Scarlatti: He was born the same year as Johann Sebastian Bach and George Frederick Handel.
