the reviewer below claims that this set is higher tension than Augustine blue. I beg to differ! Compare the charts for each set. These strong tension strings come in about 85 lbs total weight. That's usually considered a 'medium' tension string. I like medium tension strings and play this set in medium. They are very good! So are Augustine Reds. I'm about to order this set in 'strong' tension. The medium set is fairly light and I think I might like this stronger tension. Again, I don't like high tension strings! These should feel lighter than Augustine classic reds, which I do like.

This 'strong' set comes in at the mid 80's in terms of weight/tension. That's typically categorized as medium tension. And indeed I like medium tension strings, and play this set in medium. They are very light! hence I'm ordering this strong set.

These sound remarkable on my GC-5S yamaha. Strong projection while added sophistication to the tone color.
They are higher tension than usual (higher than ej46 or augustine blue) but if you are up to it, they are very unique.
The "normal" tension version was not as impressive as these, but it is also excellent.

These strings are wonderful for an 'enthusiastic dilettante' as myself. I have no formal music training and YouTube is my teacher. My reason for playing guitar is that I enjoy it, and my motivation for improving is to enjoy the guitar more. I never paid much attention to the quality and brand of my strings because I didn't think it mattered at my level.

After product testing a bunch of brands, I realized that good strings matter if you're not a pro. I can't sound better than my instrument or my strings, and I don't play sophisticated pieces that need the strings to sound weird. Dogal strings are in a league of their own. They have a delightful tone and I enjoy listening to myself play even basic stuff. So I practice more and improve faster. I tried the Diamante and Venetian series and both are great. The Venetian strings are reasonably affordable for someone who plays a lot and changes strings often, but doesn't make a living from music.
