Creator Description:
The Em13 guitars are tuned to an E minor 13 chord, E, G, B, D, F#, A, C#, E which is to say in alternating minor and major 3rds. Normal string sets will be either too taut or loose on all but the E strings, thus requiring a custom set be developed to maintain appropriate tension and intonation. The Em13 tuning allows the musician to play closer, piano like voicings more effectively than standard tuning does. It is an excellent means for arranging and performing simple or complex chord melodies. The 8 string version encompasses the complete range of the standard guitar. For those interested in experimenting with this tuning on a six string guitar, This set allows for all 3 six string variants: Em11, Bm11, and G (Major)11.
