Creator Description: "I play metal in D Standard tuning so in general I need thicker gauge strings. Over the years of trying all sorts of brands of strings made from different materials and techniques and have found that by far the D'Addario NYXL strings outperform every other strings I've tried that actually have the gauges I'm looking for. I used to use the D'Addario NYXL1156 Nickel Wound, Medium Top / Ex-Heavy Bottom, 11-56 string set that even says "Optimized for D-Tuning" on the package for a couple years and liked them for the most part but I found that some of the strings just felt out of place. Like the gauges were wrong. After a few days of Google research I discovered balanced tension and progressive tension. Realizing that as humans our perception of the senses is logarithmic, I intuited that the balanced tension would probably feel worse and decided to try to build a set of progressive tension strings. Using D'Addario's own http://stringtensionpro.com, I landed on the set you see here. All I can say is wow, it feels like an entirely different guitar. I don't have to change the way I play or how hard/soft my pick attack is when switching strings anymore. I don't have to be as conscious in my dynamics just because I'm playing on the high E vs the low E. Each string feels the same other than its thickness.
