Incredible set for flamenco. Not very crisp, but loud enough for rasgueados. Long lasting basses and nice projecting trebles. Not very ringing, not dull either. Perfect combination. I think this set is much better than plains EJ45 Pro Arte.

    Gitano Guitar Support

I've been using this product for a couple of weeks now and it's really saved a lot of grief to my lower back. It's also very convenient as it folds neatly and fits inside my case while still attached to the guitar.

I wonder about how sturdy/ durable this support may be after months of use, but I feel that I've received plenty of value for the money invested.

In addition with low tension, these strings were very stiff for me. Dull sound, hard to control and no buzz for flamenco. I took them off after a week. Not the sound i'm looking for 13,99$ a set.

It's the first time that i use these strings. Perfect flamenco set for me. The tension is normal (Hannabach has more tension than others). The trebles are ringing and the bass set is awesome. Now i have to wait to see if they're as durable as i want.

Nice strings but not for me. Maybe if the trebles were a little more lighter tension that would be easier to play with them. The La Bella Factory listened to all its customers and improved the specific strings. The sticker "Improved Trebles" says the truth. But i prefer something more light in trebles. Basses are ok.

These things are the King of Strings. I've never played anything that had such vibrancy and presence. They are very durable. You probably shouldn't, but you could keep them on for over a year and they still would show little sign of corrosion. I know because I did so on my fave guitar, a Michael Thames cedar and rosewood model; the sound just didn't deteriorate that much. These strings are GREAT! They are the Muhammad Ali of strings, "float like a butterfly, sting like a bee!"
    Sound:
They don't add color as much as they bring out the best qualities in almost any guitar. You know that old saying; good strings won't make a bad guitar sound good? It would have to be a REALLY BAD guitar for these not to make it sound its best. They are more resonant, there is more sustain and more pure tone. They are mellow, but they are also lively. Both basses and trebles are very responsive to the player. The clarity of tone is superb.
    Playability:
I currently am playing the hard tension set, but I’ve also played the Argento Pure Silver medium tension set and they are easier to bar. Both feel great. The rectified nylon trebles that come with the full set, I haven’t used. With basses, I have to be careful to be very clean on a rest stroke because these strings will report back with equal clarity both good and bad technique. I will say that a friend of mine who is a very fine guitarist has used these strings a lot over the last few years and has said the trebles could use more consistency. I haven’t noticed that myself yet.
    Value:
Yes, they are expensive. I remember having to think about it before committing. When I put them on though, I forgot all about that and have subsequently bought a few more sets. You could get the basses and trebles separately and forget about the rectified treble set if you know you aren’t going to use them. That would save you some money. You won’t have to change basses as often, they really do last longer. The true value is in the incredible tone.
    Summary:
These are the best strings I’ve ever played.
There are a lot of great strings out there though at all price points. David Russell, Xuefei Yang and John Williams play every day and night with strings costing no more than $5 a set and they can afford to play anything. Ultimately great tone is something you get from hours of practice. That being said, these strings are so pleasing to the ear that you should experience it at least once, providing it won’t put undue stress on your wallet. I’ve heard them on my Thames, a Kenny Hill signature model, a Greg Byers, and a Kremona Orpheus Valley. The expensive guitars sounded even better and the mid-priced Kremona gained more richness and transparency. The clarity is beyond anything I’ve heard before, even from other high end sets. The fact that the tone comes from purity and not coloration is remarkable.

Dogal Diamante Classical Guitar Strings Strong NR127C, Full Set

"Harmonically rich" is an apt description for these strings. These were recommended by the sales staff at Strings By Mail when I requested something different, something to add a little sparkle.
    Sound:
The Diamantes impart a lot of color and a quality of modernity. The guitar I most often test strings on is a Ramirez R4 because of its straightforward nature and good fundamental tone. Dogal Diamantes gave the R4 some wonderfully complex overtones across the board. It is like hearing a prism of sound. Trebles are light and crisp, and the basses are colorful rather than dark. Though they have plenty of presence, these strings don’t make their point with forwardness but instead with effervescence. They add a lot of life.
    Playability:
For high tension strings these are a very easy to play. The intermediate student who wants to experiment with new strings and tensions will experience less fatigue than with traditional high tension sets. Pieces like "Lagrima" or "Spanish Romance" would be just a bit easier to get around on. At least that was my experience.
    Value:
What your money is buying is a unique sound with pizzazz. To move up a class you’d have to lay down about $20 more and these strings might still come out ahead on their personality.
    Summary:
Great feel, less fatiguing and charming sound.
  • Augustine Regal Blue HT Classical Guitar Strings, Full Set 00200

Augustine Regal Blue HT Classical Guitar Strings, Full Set 00200

    By: Bill Gross
I got a pack of Augustine Regal Blues in the Strings By Mail Professional collection. When I put them on a Ramirez R4 it was like the Spanish got turned up to 11. What a find! If you like the Madrid sound these will give you THE classic tone. I had not totally found it until I put these on. Coincidentally, my guitar teacher put a set on his $8000 concert guitar (a US made modern lattice braced double-top) the same week. He was commenting on how good my guitar sounded since the week before and I was doing the same with his only to find we were both playing Regal Blues. The basses have resonance and clarity mixed with a dark tinge. The trebles are bright and full. The tone carries nicely and holds definition and distinctiveness throughout a hall in performance.
On my Spanish made R4, these strings brought out concert level qualities from what is classified as a student guitar (although a very high level one). On the concert model they accentuated the warmth and darker tones with a lot of definition. It’s a traditional string with a traditional feel, as opposed to the somewhat thinner diameters of carbon fiber trebles. Regal Blues are high tension and may require just a little more finesse to play.
I’ve been buying a lot of high end strings lately, costing from $20 on up to $50. Those strings are great, and all that silver gives you a lot of resistance to corrosion, but concerning tone, Regal Blues can stand with the best of them and deliver a traditional tone that the others can’t. Just because these are not expensive don't mistake them for cheap strings. Regal Blues deliver a much sought after sound that is instantly recognizable and different from what other makers are offering.
One hint: be sure and put the colored ends on the headstock so they don’t stain the saddle.
Good feel, definitive tone, great price.
  • GHS Doyle Dykes Signature Phosphor Bronze Acoustic DDS325 11.5-54

GHS Doyle Dykes Signature Phosphor Bronze Acoustic DDS325 11.5-54

    By: Robert McArthur
The Doyle Dykes set is unique in gauging. It bridges the gap between lights and extra lights with a unique .0115 first string while retaining the larger bass strings of a light set. As a fingerstylist, I find the treble strings offer much less resistance to my right hand, feeling more along the lines of a classical tension. Also, when playing "lead," the trebles are much easier to bend. The basses are the same as on a regular light set which means that you sacrifice none of the the meatiness in the bass. These strings are a great match for my playing style. They tend to hold their tone very long as well.

Here is a comparison of gauges between extra light set, the Doyle Dykes set and a light set:

    : Ex. Lt | DD | Lt
    1 .011 | .0115 | .012
    2 .014 | .015 | .016
    3 .022 | .022 | .024
    4 .030 | .030 | .032
    5 .038 | .042 | .042
    6 .050 | .054 | .054

Fun strings. They have a bright tone and a quick response. Tension is quite similar to the Silver Special (815). They didn't last as long as I thought they would - didn't really have immunity to sweat that I figured would result from the gold plating. The gold actually wears off very quickly - perhaps it is a very thin coating. They also chew the nails down since they are coarser than other stings.
I probably wouldn't use these again but definitely interesting to try them once.

Nice strings. The High have less tension than the 815 Silver Specials so they are a little easier to play. However, they still have a nice response, warm tone and hold their pitch extremely well.

Hannabach Precision Smooth Polished 8507HT Guitar Strings, Bass Set

    By: Marcel Rawady
These are terrible strings. They appear to have been chemically polished and the resulting string has the exact feel and sound as a set of well-played, dirty silver-specials. I almost thought I had received a used pair...
Basically these look, smell, feel and sound like a set of strings you have used daily for 3 months during the summer.
The sound is dull and the feel is tacky/sticky. They have a strange response and aren't kind to the fingernails.
My guitar doesn't like these at all - neither do I.

I was searching for a good flamenco string for that old school sound and went through many brands until I tried these. These fit the bill. The trebles have a nice metallic sound and the basses are raspy but not "buzzy". The bass strings have a good life span and given how inexpensive they are it does not push me over a fiscal cliff to change them when they begin to die.

A lovely set of strings possessing a sweet tonal quality and evenness of volume from basses to trebles. I'm especially pleased with the increased longevity of these strings which helps offset the higher cost.
