Martin MA180S Marquis 80/20 hold their tuning and are smooth sounding without the typical 12 string jangle. Special Note: with Replacement D'Addario wound .020 80/20 for the A octave string.

They last long and give the guitar a long bright sustain with clear overtones. The coating isn't as sticky as other brands. D'Addario is very consistent as well.?

I have used D'Addario EJ46s for decades - they are bright, in tune, and have plenty of substance for a great range of dynamic and timbre possibilities.

Great projection, brilliance. Trebles tame the brightness of this guitar.

I studied technique and performance at various conservatoriums and used these strings constantly. They are strong, neutral, transparent and enable a lot of timbrel tone colour using free or rest stroke and a lot of variation between ponticelli and dolce. Perfect intonation and consistency.

Scale length 21.75", tuned 1 octave down from mandolin. Strings chosen according to D'Addario String Tension Pro tension calculations. Started with concert ukulele strings changing tuning and strings until tensions approximated original concert uke. Mandolin tuning was chosen because I play mandolin and am interested in other voices but don't have time to commit to learning additional tunings.
