The Banjo-Ologist by Gordy Ohliger DVD

This video contains a friendly evening with Gordy Ohliger, the Musical Mark Twain, performing period songs circa 1800-1930. It is a fun informative evening of funky minstrel music, pioneer songs, risky ragtime, hot jazz, novelty vaudeville and one weepy melody. The live concert is augmented with studio sessions and a neighborly visit into his home incorporating additional quirky stories and sweet music.

Mr. Ohliger presents his programs in museums, music festivals, and concert series internationally. Using rare and exquisite vintage instruments, he respectfully revives the popular songs of our ancestors, revealing their daily lives through his trademark witty introductions. He has received seven grants to perpetuate the endeavor, and is recognized as an important figure as a performing musicologist of early American musical forms.
