Cantus Planus was originally conceived for solo guitar; however, as the work took shape, its growing complexity necessitated the addition of a second performer. The composition unfolds through multiple, interwoven layers that are set in continuous counterpoint, forming a richly textured melodic and harmonic fabric. Within this evolving sound world, echoes of plainchant surface and dissolve, like multicolored filaments woven into the musical tapestry.
