La Bal des Marionnettes is a four-movement set of student pieces aimed around the grade 4 level. The titles (Ouverture du Bal; Boite à Musique, Les Acrobates, Pinocchio) alI help towards the imagery of the music. The pieces are brief, to the point and pleasant and could be a good introduction to students by teachers as simple impressionistic guitar music. The presentation is first class and there is ample fingering.
