Creator Description: "For many years I used the Thomastik-Infeld BeBop 13-53 set. If you’ve ever TIs on an archtop, you know what they sound like and how wonderful they are! They have a great combination of qualities: acoustically, they have that rhythm guitar chunk, but when amplified with a magnetic pickup they have that rich midrange and great definition and articulation. Around 2014 or so, my teacher and guitar master Randy Vincent told me about the string sizes that he used on his Gibson L4-CES—which was essentially a 13-53 set with a twist. He replaced the high E with a 15 and replaced the B with a 19. A 15 as a high E string?! At the time this sounded crazy to me! So naturally, I tried it and fell in love. I’ve found that the added string tension means that melodic lines on the top two strings have extra dynamic range available. The increased tension also makes them even more responsive to different types of articulations. Additionally, when you’re playing chord melody the top notes pop which I find helps the melodies to project. I love the sound and feel of this set and I’m stuck on it now!"
