What instrument are they played on: "This concoction is for a Russian "quart" guitar, which is pitched a perfect fourth higher than typical Russian tuning (i.e. DGBDgbd). The double neck version includes up to four sub-basses: F, A, B-flat, D. Note that the only sub-bass string that is lower in pitch than the strings of the fretted neck is F. These are on a 7+4 quart guitar made by Malyukov ca: 1936 (Ukraine). The instrument has a spruce top and maple back and sides."
