D'Addario Kaplan Amo Violin, 4/4 Scale, Heavy Tension, Full Set

I have been playing violin for a year but have played guitar for 20+ years and have used D'Addario classical guitar strings extensively. I installed these strings on a $1025 violin and use a Codabow Diamond NX. The violin can make some sweet tones but also some very harsh tones (novice bowing issues) and has a generally "bright" sound. I have tried medium tension Dominant and D'Addario Zyex strings on this instrument before this set. The Zyex had a nice strong warm sound but less dynamic and color response. I also had issues with harsh sounds as the strings are very responsive to the bow. With better bowing technique I imagine that would be less of an issue. The Dominants sounded good and have excellent bow response and good sound but sounded a bit brittle and harsh on my violin with me playing. I have had the D'Addario Kaplan Amo heavy tension on for about a week. I am really pleased with them so far. They have good bow response, dynamic contrast, and color creating a nice solid warm tone on my violin that is easy to control. The heavy tension seems to be more controllable for me currently but they do not feel hard to finger at all. The construction of the strings appears very consistent and high quality as I have come to expect with D'Addario. The black and gold silk-ing looks very nice. The strings sounded good right after installation and opened up and settled into pitch after about 3 days. I definitely recommend these stings.
