I wouldn't say these quite sound like roundwounds--they still have a flatwound quality, BUT at the same time they are quite different from the boomy dead sounding typical flatwounds. These strings have more high end and upper mid character, but the big difference to my ears is that they have a way quicker and sharper percussive attack than any flat I've tried. Especially the D and G string. They are they only flatwounds that actually sound good (IMO) when doing slap bass style when you snap the D or G string. The don't blow your eardrums out and they are clear and tight. That's the only flatwound I've used with that quality. The snapping sounds as good as roundwounds.

I'll add these strings to my very short list of flatwounds that I find acceptable as far as sound is concerned. The only other set on my list is EB Slinky Cobalt Flatwounds. These strings, I would say, aren't quite as bright as EB Cobalt Flats, but the attack is sharper and more percussive. I REALLY like that about these strings. Also the super light gauge feels so much better than the cables most companies use for flatwounds.

If you want soft sounding, flubby, boomy flatwounds, these are not your strings. They are much more defined even though they are not quite into the roundwound territory. They also feel great under the fingers, nice and smooth and quite low tension and bendy.
