Not a good match for my instrument
Review by Thomas T. on 29 Jun 2020 review stating Not a good match for my instrument I have a vintage (1912) Gibson K-1 mandocello, and have been looking for a soft tension string set as I have found the standard D'Addario mandocello set to be much too tight and difficult to play. The Dogal N110s are indeed soft tension, but in this setting proved to be too soft. They are very easy to play, but the tone is not very strong and there are a lot of string buzzes. Perhaps raising the action on the neck would help, but that would require a new nut and saddle and I was hoping to keep the original parts intact. The Dogal strings otherwise appear to be well made, and on the appropriate instrument would likely do very well.
