Dogal R33 Marchio Rosso Red Tag Chrome Cello Strings, 4/4-3/4

Dogal Red Tag cello strings have become my go-to recommendation for almost everybody, due to combination of great tone, near-instant break-in (no "new-string snarl", pitch-stable within five minutes), and amazingly low price. On my own professional cello and on several intermediate-to-advanced cellos belonging to my college and adult private students, the Dogal Red Tag A & D strings sound remarkably similar to Larsen A & D, and have turned out to have a MUCH longer playing life than the Larsens. Dogal Red Tag G & C sound more focused than Helicore, somewhat brigher than Evah Pirazzi Gold, not as bright as Prim. Unfortunately, Dogal Red Tag isn't available in light tension, and we've found a couple of cellos that worked well with medium-tension Larsens and Helicores but acted as if the Dogal Red Tag strings were too high-tension -- tone was still good, but response got balky (especially D string). That said, you can get an entire SET of Dogal Red Tag for around the price of a single Larsen D string, so it's not like you're risking much money. If you buy a set and discover that one or more of the Dogal Red Tag strings aren't a great match for YOUR cello, then PLEASE donate them to a nearby school orchestra program, because they also sound great on Eastman VC-80 and VC-100 student cellos!!
