Bright but balanced

My favorite DR's have long been Pure Blues ML. They're the liveliest sounding nickels I've ever played and go nicely with my Precision basses. But while the Hi-Beams have a slightly stiffer feel, they seem to provide a more balanced tone. They are steel, not nickel, which is probably why they feel stiffer, and they sound best on my Jazz basses. Hi-Beams' overall tone is very balanced with distinctive highs, mellow mids and a good balance of low end richness. They fill in all the right spaces in the mix and provide a solid bass presence for the band. I only gave four stars due to the stiff feel.
