Dunlop Tortex III 1.50 mm White Tortex 3, One pick

I tried the Dunlop Tortex III to see about that long point and Primetone standard teardrop just for a "control". Turns out I ended up liking the teardrop. It seems like the pointed picks are better for electric guitars that don't need the force or leverage an acoustic gets. Nice pick, very warm and felt good in the hand, plenty of pick.

My 'go to' pick is the white Totrtex Jazz 3. I was going to order a few and saw that this Tortex pick had a review so decided to try it instead. I was surprised to find that it's just a bit bigger than the Jazz 3. I was more surprised to fid that it sounds a bit different and I'd say it's a bit better. I like Tortex because I feel I get pure tone and for me that's a cut in the the upper frequencies. This does that a bit better. Maybe it's the slightly larger size that gives it more stability which translates into a bold pure tone. I'd have to say it's the best $.35 thing I've bought.

Tortex is extremely common and I would have to imagine that nearly every guitar player (acoustic and electric) has tried them at one point. Its a proprietary mix but I believe its delrin with some nylon (it has delrin characteristics, but they specifically molded a texture into the pick so it's harder to tell composition). This pick differs from a normal tortex pick in 2 ways. The point of this pick is identical to a jazz III design (the rounder corners and still round like a standard shape and not slightly pointed like a JIII though). Secondly, tortex usually doesn't get thicker than the purple (1.14mm) but these are 1.5mm. It doesn't seem like much, buts its enough thickness to bring it to a JIII shape and remove any flexibility the tip still had. (Its still slightly flexible but much stiffer, which for me is a huge bonus). This is a tortex pick but better , the pointed tip gives a brighter sound (tortex tends to be rather warm sounding) and the increased thickness make this pick rather nice, especially compared to slightly more expensive picks on the market.
