These romantic and dramatic Variations and Polonaise for violin and guitar op. 24a by Giuliani are demanding for both the violin and the guitar. Each shines in turn, the guitar particularly in the concluding Polonaise. We know that Giuliani and the violinist Mayseder performed together in concerts, and perhaps this was one of the works which they played. The work was first published in Vienna in about 1812.
These Variations and Polonaise op. 24a are here presented in a new modern re-engraved edition, score and parts, ready for performance, urtext and authentic, based strictly on the original editions with no modern elements or fingering introduced.
