String Journal - For 4-string instruments

This is a journal tailored for tracking information and observations regarding the strings used on a musical instrument. It is designed to be easily stored inside most instrument cases.

Specifically, it provides spaces to write when strings are/were changed, brand info, tension, and a larger notes section to journal info for each set. It also provides a space to catalog instrument info such as make/model/age, and owner(s) info— name/address/years owned.

Using the journal will help track string longevity and will help you to recall the instruments response to each set of strings you try on it. It is a useful tool for finding the best strings for your instrument and your playing.

As instruments vary in their responses to different strings, it is best to have a journal for each instrument. It is used best as an indefinite companion to them as it can hold valuable info for not only the current owner, but owners to come, guitar shops, and luthiers.

As lifelong guitarist playing a variety of styles such as classical, flamenco, electric, and folk/Americana, I have tried an enormity of different sets of strings in both nylon and steel. I began my study at age 7 with Frank Wallace who played vihuela, lute, classical, and 10-string guitar and often journaled his string observations. Inspired by Frank and the dizzying amount of string options out there, I’ve been string journaling for years. I’ve made this product to better organize and ease that process.
