Planning to be cryogenically frozen when you die so you can be brought back to life later? GHS uses the same process to inject extra life into its Sub-Zero Boomers electric guitar strings.
GHS treats Sub-Zero Boomers cryogenically with liquid nitrogen, taking them down to -300 F. [For the record: That's even colder than it gets during the winter in northern Michigan, where Strings By Mail is located.] Then they gradually bring the strings back to room temperature.
The treatment does two things to the strings: it increases their dimensional stability, which helps keep them in tune longer, and it increases their resistance to corrosion.
