La Bella TIM10 Timple 5-String Set

I’m using these strings on a soprano ukulele to achieve Machete tuning on that instrument. The E string becomes the low D, the G string the G, The C string the B, and the high d stays the same. You could use the A string for the g, if you wanted. They appear to be the same gauge.

I find the higher pitched strings have a higher tension than the others, I suppose because two of them are being tuned down in my case. I feel that it’s more of an issue tuning the E down to D. You can also take a regular C string from a Uke set to get the low D for the machete tuning, at least on a soprano scale.

I also used a set of these strings on a Guitalele to get the Timple tuning. Again, you can use a Uke C or E string to get the extra low D to fill that 6th string position on a Guitalele.

I have both of my instruments with these strings tuned down a half step.

The strings themselves sound great, have a bit of grip to them, and come up to tuning quickly and settled faster than any other nylon fluorocarbon strings that I have tried.

Each string is super long, too. Much longer than you need for a tenor scale instrument.
