It's obvious that the main reference is Italo Calvino's book of the same name, but in reality, the genesis of this work dates back to my adolescence.
I have a friend who has been present in my life since high school and university. With him, I shared and cultivated two great passions: music and drawing, art in general.
We both attended the Faculty of Architecture at the Politecnico di Turin, where we graduated. But while I immediately turned to the world of music, he now teaches architectural composition at the same Turin faculty. My friend's name is Alessandro Armando, and several years ago, he decided to illustrate all of Calvino's cities. Following in the footsteps of Mussorgsky, who drew inspiration from the paintings of his painter and architect friend Viktor Hartmann to compose his famous Pictures at an Exhibition, I too drew inspiration from seven of the cities drawn by Alessandro.
