Jean-Maurice Mourat was born in France, and is now living in Andalusia, Spain.
Influenced by jazz music and Django Reinhardt, he started studying piano at a very young age. As a teenager influenced by jazz music, he learned the clarinet and the guitar on his own, until he met the italian guitarist Oscar Ghiglia. He owes him not only his passion for the guitar, but especially the precious dedagogical notions used to write his method, Six cordes... une guitare, the four volumes of La guitare classique, and Guitariste...et vous, a simple method dedicated to beginners.
