The piece Bulgaresque No. 2 is part of a cycle of chamber music works composed for various ensembles. These pieces are influenced by contemporary Bulgarian music, characterized as a kind of “jazz-folk” fusion grounded in strong folkloric roots. In addition to modal language and irregular rhythms, I have incorporated improvised sections into the structure of the piece, always supported by a fixed harmonic framework for the accompaniment.
