Thomastik-Infeld JF324 Jazz Flat Wound 4 String, Short Scale (43-106)

Once again, these just bring out the tone of my instrument from the tone of my fingers. .
Well worth the price. . .

I've got TI flats on 4 of my bass guitars—fretted & fretless, short & long scale. They are probably my favorite strings: they feel great—almost soft compared to other flats, they're smooth, flexible, and easy-playing. That's huge if your playing for long periods of time. Perhaps more importantly, they sound fantastic—clear and even, not dull like other flats I've tried. They are a pricey string, but well worth it.

I've always been a fan of Thomastik-Infeld Jazz Flats, I thought they sounded great and lasted a long time while retaining a good sound.

The two sets I bought recently (a "short scale" and a long scale set) were both so disappointing, I had no choice but to chuck them in the trash and go back to my previous brand.

Both sets had an inexplicably DULL sound on the first and second strings. The third and fourth strings sounded OK, bright and snappy like a brand new set should. But the dull, flat sound of the first and second strings sounded like a cheap set of strings after 3 years of use.

To compare, I swapped in the first string from the set I had been using, D'Adarrio Chrome Flats, that had been used 3 or 4 months and had started to sound dull to me. The used D'Adarrio 1st string sounded noticeably brighter and newer than the still-in-place T-I 2nd string.

Just callin' 'em as I see 'em. I will never spend that kind of top dollar for T-I strings ever again.

(Plus their scale lengths have always disappointed!!! Their "short scale" fits medium-scale basses OK, but is too long even for a through-body short scale Mustang bass.)
