The musical repertoire is filled with sailors’ songs. They tell us stories of the hardships of the sea, its dangers, the loss of a loved one, and the return to one’s beloved. This song is part of our French heritage, and I believe it is important to preserve the memory of the songs of the past. Many countries make it a duty to preserve their traditions, so let us preserve ours as well.
