The Sonata en La is the second of a cycle of three sonatas. It shares multiple characteristics with the other two pieces, such as adapting fairly faithfully to the structure of this musical form, or its use of guitar-related tonalities, as well as having been composed on the instrument itself without forcing unrelated ideas to it and, finally, being a tribute to the guitar, with its small drawbacks but also with its many qualities.
