Description: This is Yamaha’s flagship model, the GC 71, hand made by Toshi Itoh. The GC 71 was the best-of-the-best of Japanese luthiery at the time and was performed and recorded on by some of the world’s best players. This model was the same instrument that Andres Segovia practiced and performed on late in his career. Other well-known players of Yamaha’s concert guitars were Leona Boyd, Leo Brouwer, Norbert Kraft, and Stephan Rak, among others. This instrument features a perfect spruce top and very high-quality Brazilian rosewood back and sides. It is in excellent condition with no cracks or repairs. The set up is wonderful with a low action and well-shaped neck that players will find most comfortable. This guitar has brand new gold frets, which are more durable than the standard nickel frets. The original tuners have also been replaced with a set of highest quality Rubner “El Sonido” series tuners with roller bearings and solid brass fittings that make them smooth and precise. It comes with the original Yamaha hard case. The sound of this guitar is pristine and beautiful, like a delicate Japanese flower, and is capable of a wide variety of color and nuance. The notes are pure and even all the way up the fingerboard, like a fine Hauser guitar, and would make for an exceptional recording instrument. The clarity is remarkable, and the tone character is lovely and velvety. It is perhaps the opposite of the modern double top guitars that focus on volume and projection. Instead, this guitar draws you in with beauty and poetry; a graceful, understated nature that will make you dream of a perfect sound world.
