These strings produce a warm tone, but perhaps bit too warm and too understated... They were recommended for jazz guitar and that is right, they will not excel for rock. Their advantage is their thickness: they have the volume of 10 strings, but they are thicker and are easier on one's fingers. They come with spares for the first two strings, and for good reason: the high e string broke as soon as I put a little tension on it. The spare doesn't have the black nylon coating so it's not as nice, but it does work. Seeing how fragile they may be I threaded all other string except the low E twice through the machine posts to reduce the pressure. It worked . They do hold the tuning OK, they look great, I just wish their sound had a bit more spark...
