GHS HC-GBL Thick Core Boomers Light Electric Guitar Strings 10-48

These strings can handle E-Flat, Drop C#, D standard, and Drop C on my SG!

Over the last year, I have been on a search to find a 10-48 string set that has the tone in feel that I'm looking for. I began with the David Gilmour GHS blue set, but some of the strings were a bit lighter than I cared for. Good tone though. Then I tried the LaBella 10-48 set, and they had a good feel, but I found them to be really mellow sounding and didn't have a strong attack to them. Then, I tried the Ernie Ball 10-48 set and they felt good, but the wrap wire seemed like a different shape or thickness than all of the others that I have tried (including other gauged sets), and they produced a high-pitched squeak that was louder than any other string squeak I have heard, and that kinda drove me crazy. I tried multiple Stringjoy 10-48 sets with minor variations in string gauges, and while they were good and had a nice feel and balanced sound, I didn't feel like they reflected the premium price that they have.

It's been a long journey, and I am really happy to have arrived at this set. They have a punchy sound that isn't shrill, they feel like they have a little more tension to them than other sets with the same gauge wire (i assume do to the thicker core wire), and I noticed a jump in output through my pickups.

So far, I think these strings are checking all the boxes for me, which is a pretty great feeling!

I became a Boomer believer many years ago. There is always a set on 3 or 4 of several guitars I own. Great tone. Long-lasting. Built for aggressive playing.
