Optima Unique Studio Gold Electric Bass (45-105), Long Scale, Full Set

If you like ProSteels, then I would right away recommend Optima Unique to you. They are bright and crisp but with a somewhat more forgiving and Slinkier feel than ProSteels. If you prefer NYXLs however, then I would only recommend Optima Unique to you with caution. Optima Unique have a definite medium tension and feel much stiffer, especially when new, though mine have broken in very nicely after two months and four gigs and a whole lotta playing. This is the first set that I have ever purchased or used, and I put them on a 4-string studio caliber bass and it has been good, however, for the money more research is needed. So far, I do not necessarily love these strings mainly because of the price but also because they are manufactured a long way away from me here in knuckleheaded Denver (not mad at Germany here in Colorado) but I do like them a lot and I think they have an enjoyable tone and feel. The price is high and the longevity is not yet determined for me. They may not be the string for you but Optima Unique is very obviously to me a high-quality string. I will say that the nice crisp highs have worn off somewhat quickly and I suspect the beautiful golden finish has surely faded, but I have been playing this bass all along so I have got to touch the strings anyway.
